Gesar Festival on France 3 television

Yesterday the Limousin branche of the French television station France 3 visited the Gesar Festival to make a news item for the evening news. They filmed in the festival tent where His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rinpoche was teaching, interviewed Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche and some of the participants of the festival.

This morning there was another lhasang at the Gesar Festival, the biggest lhasang this far. Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche was there with his wife Khandro Tseyang, His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rinpoche, Jigme Rinpoche and the participants of the festival. See this movie for a short impression.

Most participants for the The Outer Aspects of Gesar of Ling programme arrived yesterday, on a beautiful sunny day at Dechen Chöling. More and more people will be arriving in the upcoming days.

This morning a Lhasang was held, led by Acharya Mathias Pongracz and Acharya David Hope, together with all participants, programme staff and Dechen Chöling staff. Everyone here is very excited that it has begun. The Gesar Festival has started!

Gesar Festival Weekend Arrangement

Dechen Chöling cordially invites you to a “Weekend with the Rinpoches”. Attend the first weekend of the Gesar Festival, connect with Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, His Eminence Namkha Drimed Rinpoche and Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche, while receiving a brief taste of the Gesar of Ling teachings. This is a special last minute offering!

The weekend will be from Friday May 16 (arrival day) until Sunday May 18 (departure in the afternoon).

Festival Setup programme started

This week the first particpants of the Gesar Festival Setup Programme have arrived and started working. The participants combine 6 hours of work setting up for the festival with daily meditation, Lujong excercises led by Acharya Pongracz and weekly Buddhist classes.
Even after a few days the presence of the setup people on the land is eminent. Tents are arising everywhere you look around the chateau, the grass is cut, new grass sowed on empty ground, plants pruned and piles of brocades are sewed.

This is a wonderful opportunity to hear and see Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche teach.

Three rainbows

Three rainbows appeared, shortly after each other, on the day that work started to make the road to the festival grounds.

The road leads from behind the childcare area to the field on the other side of the small lake, the Suncamp ground. Here the big tent will be for the Gesar Festival. See the pictures here

Early Bird Registration period extended

The final deadline for Early Bird registration has been extended to March 15 to make it possible for more people to attend the Gesar Festival.
When you register for the Gesar Festival and pay the programme fee before March 15, you will receive a significant reduction on the programme price.

The Gesar Festival is a unique event happening at Dechen Chöling from May 12 until June 1. Three renowed teachers–Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, HE Namkha Drimed Rinpoche and Jigme Rinpoche–will come and give teachings on King Gesar of Ling.

Dorje Kasung Gar

All Dorje Kasung are warmly invited to participate in a Gar during the Gesar Festival. Inspired by the view, practice and action of Gesar, we will serve this festival as Dorje Kasung and gather in an encampment on the Lha Meadow of Dechen Chöling. We will fully take part in the Outer and Inner Gesar teachings culminating with the Rigden Abhisheka (*). At the same time, we will engage in our familiar practice of manifesting protector principle and service as an extension of our own bodhisattva activity.

Dates: from May 12 to June 1. Arrival and departure is also possible on May 15, 21 and 27.

Price: 30 € per day (May 12 - 15) / 40 € per day (May 16 - June 1)
