Dorje Kasung Gar

All Dorje Kasung are warmly invited to participate in a Gar during the Gesar Festival. Inspired by the view, practice and action of Gesar, we will serve this festival as Dorje Kasung and gather in an encampment on the Lha Meadow of Dechen Chöling. We will fully take part in the Outer and Inner Gesar teachings culminating with the Rigden Abhisheka (*). At the same time, we will engage in our familiar practice of manifesting protector principle and service as an extension of our own bodhisattva activity.

Dates: from May 12 to June 1. Arrival and departure is also possible on May 15, 21 and 27.

Price: 30 € per day (May 12 - 15) / 40 € per day (May 16 - June 1)

I am going to post some FAQ’s here that have been coming up. Feel free to add your general questions here as well.

Q: What sort of scholarship is provided?

A: No one should avoid coming because of financial restrictions and we make every opportunity to help out. I can forward any scholarship requests to the command group and we will hopefully provide a response soon.

With that said, the Gar is, compared to the main Gesar Festival program, actually quite heavily discounted. This is because we are providing our own “program within a program” and hopefully have lower costs. But we still need to provide for much of the infrastructure such as making sure there are enough tents and they are in good condition, drala items such as banners and flags, food and so on.

Q: I want to attend the programs AND do Kasung practice. How do we do this?

A: With the exception of the Rigden Abisheka *, people who want to participate in the Inner and Outer Gesar teachings should register for the Gar. There will be plenty of opportunities to do Kasung shift as well as attend the talks. But being simultaneously in a Kasung container while going to the teachings could provide a very profound understanding of these teachings on Gesar.

    * The Rigden Abisheka is a much more intensive program and requires that the participants are fully with the program. There may be opportunity to do a shift or two but Kasung should plan on participating/living with that part of the mandala.
